When my ex-husband and I divorced in 1982, the settlement agreement included child maintenance for our only daughter. He paid for 2-3 years and then stopped. At the time I could not face maintenance courts and did not pursue the matter. My daughter was dependent until she was 22. I paid for her schooling, university and college costs and all maintenance. Now I am a pensioner with a very low income and I have been diagnosed with cancer. I feel if I had received the maintenance it would have been placed in a better financial position than I am in now. Its about 15-20 years unpaid maintenance. Does maintenance expire and can I claim it from him at this late stage.
