911 online scammers are using SA Reserve Bank’s governor’s name to lure victims

The 911 online scammers are now using the name of South African Reserve Bank governor Lesetja Kganyago to lure victims.

We recently received an email that purports to come from Kganyago and promising to make us beneficiaries of some inheritance fund. They go to an extent of working President Jacob Zuma into their story:

CLARIFICATION FOR PAYMENT

Attention: Fund Beneficiary.

This is to notify you about your pending inheritance fund, we have been mandated by President of Republic of South Africa under the new Government of Jacob Zuma.  To make sure all our debtors received their long-awaited fund.

Which has been gazetted to be released through your representative Mr.  John T. Kehoe, who visited our office last week with a letter of authorization, claiming to be your true representative.

And we have sent you a notification severally to inform you about this inheritance pending fund, which have been with our bank for some period. Mr. John T. Kehoe, stated that your online account should be terminated while the fund should be wired directly into his account in the United State of America.

Kehoe, if we do not hear from you within the next seven working days from today.

We are sorry to have delayed your instruction in giving out this fund to Mr. John T. Kehoe.
